Jessica Simpson & Nicole Richie Team for 'Fashion Star'

Is this a reality-show dream team or what? Reality TV veterans Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson are joining forces as celebrity mentors on NBC's new reality competition series, Fashion Star. NBC had already announced Simpson's participation, and today the network released a statement confirming that Richie has also come aboard.
Complementing Richie and Simpson's star wattage on the show will be supermodel Elle McPherson as Fashion Star's host and renowned menswear designer John Varvatos as another mentor.
Fashion Star will depict aspiring designers competing for a multimillion-dollar contract which will result in their fashion line being carried at major retailers. The carefully chosen celebrity mentors will help the designers in the competition.
"Jessica, Nicole, John and Elle make the most exciting team we have ever worked with on a reality television show," Fashion Star exec producer Ben Silverman said in a statement, "and we are thrilled to feature such an extraordinary group of mentors and designers."
Though Simpson, 30, has said she never thought she would be a "fashion mogul," her own clothing line has reached empire status and is expected to rake in a cool $1 billion in 2011.
Richie, 29, founded the successful clothing and accessories lines, Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 -- although she recently told the U.K. edition of In Style magazine that she's "pretty much a jeans and T-shirt type of girl." The key to her personal fashion success is a mixture of variety and vintage. "I collect a lot of vintage kimonos and vintage bed jackets," she said. "I'll throw those on, and a lot of the time it will appear that I'm wearing a completely different outfit, but I'm not."
Fashion Star doesn't have a premiere date yet, but it's never too early for a girl to start planning out her ensembles. So get on that, Jessica and Nicole!
