When it comes to romantic gestures, Justin Bieber thinks big! On Friday night, the 17-year-old pop idol surprised girlfriend Selena Gomez with a private screening of Titanic... at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
How did he manage that, you ask? According to TMZ, he pretty much just asked nicely. Bieber had sold out the 20,000-seat arena three times before, so they agreed to loan it to him -- for free! -- during a non-event night. (Bieber reportedly got the idea from the 2002 comedy Mr. Deeds, in which Adam Sandler arranges a dinner date with Winona Ryder in an empty Madison Square Garden.)
The supersized movie date came at the end of a full day for Gomez, 19, and her adoring guy. The couple spent the afternoon cuddling at Malibu beach, where they were seen trading massages and throwing bread at seagulls (and each other!). In the evening, they caught pal Demi Lovato's concert at the Nokia Theater. And just when Gomez thought the night was over, Bieber took her hand, said "Come with me" -- and walked her through an underground passage to the Staples Center next door, where Titanic was waiting for them. So sweet!
Earlier in the week, Bieber posted a photo of himself and Selena surrounded by babies, with the jokey caption "Brangelina 2.0." Judging from his life online and off, Selena seems to be on his mind all the time -- and he's devoted to keeping her around. As he tweeted on Friday: "Romance isn't dead. Treat your lady right fellas. #REAL"
