Teen Choice Awards: 'Harry Potter' Beats 'Twilight'

When it comes to most teen award shows, Twilight is a sure thing -- but for the first time since the cinematic vampire saga debuted, Harry Potter has bested it at the Teen Choice awards, claiming the most overall wins.
As E! News reports, Sunday night's showdown between the two epic franchises came up in the wizarding world's favor, with Harry Potter earning an impressive seven surfboards. In true underdog fashion, the boy-wizard series upset Twilight in several categories, including Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie (for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 1 over The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Choice Sci-Fi Actress (Emma Watson, instead of Kristen Stewart) and, in probably the biggest surprise of the night, Choice Movie Liplock for Watson and Daniel Radcliffe (and that was only a nightmare vision!).
The Potter franchise also racked up some extra surfboards for the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2, for Choice Summer Movie, Choice Male Summer Movie Star (for Radcliffe) and Choice Female Summer Movie Star (for Watson).
Of course, Twilight fans didn't end up empty-handed by any stretch. Taylor Lautner won Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actor for Eclipse, Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene grabbed individual awards for Choice Movie Scene Stealer, and Robert Pattinson nabbed a new award for Choice Vampire, topping practically the entire cast of the CW TV series The Vampire Diaries.
Next year's award cycle will be the final test of the two blockbusters, since the last installment of Harry Potter was released this July. Will Ron and Hermione's long-awaited snog beat Bella and Edward's honeymoon kisses? We'll have to wait and see.
Of course, there's more to the Teen Choice Awards than just movies; this year's show, which was hosted by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco, honored teen-approved excellence in the fields of movies, music, television fashion and, um, miscellaneous.
Predictably, Justin Bieber snagged a bevy of prizes including Choice Male Hottie, Choice Twit, Choice Male Artist and even Choice TV Villain, for his turn on CSI. And his girlfriend Selena Gomez won huge as well: She picked up the surfboard for Choice Female Hottie, while her group, Selena Gomez and The Scene, nabbed Choice Group, Choice Love Song ("Love You Like a Love Song") and Choice Single ("Who Says").
