<P>Deck the halls! The holiday kicked into high gear Wednesday night (November 30) when New York's massive Christmas tree was lit during "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Plenty of A-listers were on hand, including Justin Bieber, who premiered his highly anticipated <a href="/news/articles/1673689/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-video.jhtml">video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You,"</a> featuring Mariah Carey.

HGTV, LA and Dining Room Tables
I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.
When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..."
B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.
I hated her.
Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.
WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?
Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?
Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.
I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.

Does Britney Spears Have 'The X Factor'?
MTV News takes a look at the pros and cons of bringing Spears onboard as a judge for the reality singing competition.

Opinion on whether the pop star is a good fit for the reality singing competition has been sharply divided, so we decided to take on the topic the way we're sure Simon Cowell did before making Spears a reported $10 million offer: a good, old-fashioned pros and cons list.

Its heavily hyped premiere pulled in 12.1 million total viewers and a meager 4.4/12 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18 to 49 demographic. That's about half of what the 2011 season of "American Idol" averaged ("Idol" is having its own ratings woes this season), and it didn't even win the night: Emmy-winning sitcom "Modern Family" drew 14.3 million viewers and a 6.0/15 for its season premiere.
</P><P>
</P><P>The poor ratings precipitated the overhaul that saw judges <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger</a> and host Steve Jones fired from the show.
</P><P>
</P><P>There's no question that Spears would bring viewers to "The X Factor." She enjoys a large and devout fanbase who will basically follow her just about anywhere. And beyond her own fans, Spears' celebrity would also likely draw attention from the general public, who will tune in simply to see how she does.

</P><P><big><b> Con: She's become nervous on camera </b></big><br>
</P><P>
</P><P>Though she can still wow a crowd live in concert, as evidenced by last year's successful tour behind her hit album <i>Femme Fatale,</i> Spears has become increasingly tentative during interviews. She rarely grants on-camera sit-downs, and when she does, she seems nervous and uncomfortable.
</P><P>
</P><P>To be a strong judge or mentor on a reality show, you have to be <i>very</i> comfortable on camera. Part of what made Jennifer Lopez click last season on "Idol" was that she came across as confident, direct and often empathetic. She even broke down in tears after <a href="/news/articles/1658584/americaon-idol-top-24.jhtml">sending home contestant Chris Medina</a>, whose fiancée suffered a severe brain injury in a car accident. The key word here is <i>after.</i> It's hard to imagine Spears being able to keep it together and deliver such difficult news in similar circumstances.
</P><P>It's worth noting that a high-drama situation arose on the first season of "The X Factor" -- one that left <a href="/news/articles/1675936/x-factor-rachel-crow-elimination-reaction.jhtml">contestant Rachel Crow sobbing</a> onstage and Scherzinger a wreck ... a wreck who received <a href="http://www.thefablife.com/2011-12-05/paula-abdul-and-nicole-scherzinger-receive-death-threats-after-the-x-factor-elimination/" target="_blank">death threats</a>. Producers should also consider whether it's wise to send Spears, who has dealt with emotional issues in the past, into a genre that thrives when the emotional stakes are high.

</P><P>One of the things we like most about <a href="/news/articles/1680496/the-voice-battle-rounds.jhtml">"The Voice"</a> is that its judges — Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — are all active artists. They are all still hitting the studio to make hit records, and that lends a great deal of credibility to their opinions when they critique a contestant's performance. We don't mean to slight Abdul or Scherzinger, but you could argue that a legacy singer who hasn't released an album in over 17 years and a performer who has had a difficult time getting her own solo singing career off the ground aren't the best judges of who does and does not have "The X Factor."

</P><P>On the other hand, Spears may be. <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2011/03/29/britney-spears-femme-fatale-reviews/">Last year's <i>Femme Fatale</i></a> gave Spears three top-10 singles — the most of any of her seven albums — and earned some of the best reviews of her career. While it's true that she did not write or produce much of the record, she was most certainly involved in picking her collaborators, which actually could speak well of her ability to know talent when she sees it. Spears also smartly chose red-hot rapper Nicki Minaj to open on the North American leg of her tour.

</P><P>When it comes to the contemporary pop music scene, Spears knows what works.

</P><P><big><b>Con: She's not known for her singing</b></big><br>
</P><P>Unlike Aguilera, whose talent as a vocalist is indisputable, Spears is not known for her singing. By signing her to judge and mentor a singing competition, "X Factor" producers are setting themselves up for inevitable criticism. "Who is Britney Spears to judge a singing competition?" critics will scream (and they won't be wrong).

</P><P>When Aguilera critiques a performer's vocals, she speaks with authority — and her ear for singing proved to make her the most discerning judge on the "Voice" panel during the <a href="/news/articles/1679565/the-voice-christina-aguilera-jonathas-usher.jhtml">blind auditions</a>. Spears' judging style will likely be based on liking what's already there, but she's not going to have much insight on missed notes or pitch, which will cripple her ability to further mentor her team. How can she help them improve as vocalists when it's a truth universally acknowledged that she's not really a vocalist herself?

I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

Anyway, Captain America is pulling a strong 71% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now so GO SEE IT! IT'S FANTASTIC!

Jennifer Lawrence Hot or Not At 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards
Jennifer Lawrence arrived at the 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards wearing a super hot (or not) Lanvin dress. Check it out, what do you think? PR Photos On one hand she looks amazing, and maybe it is just the angle in my photo agency’s gallery, but in some she looks horrible. Jennifer showed some sideboob and a lot of skin in the backless Lanvin design, which also featured a metal, choker collar, bow at the waste, and asymmetrical skirt. Sometimes she looks like Katniss others, just an awkward girl not sure if this was the right option. I love the girl don’;t get me wrong, but I don’t think this was the best choice for her. 'It was the first time you hear an artist from the mainstream singing bachata,' former Aventura frontman tells MTV News of single 'Promise.'

Mixing his signature bachata flair with some R&B, he is showing fans a whole new side on his debut album, <i>Formula, Vol. 1.</i>

</P><P>"This song 'All Aboard,' that tune allowed me to expand and kind of offer my audience something totally different because it's not bachata — I'm singing English and that was really fun," Santos recently told MTV News. "I was a little nervous about that, but people actually really accepted it."

</P><P>Santos and Weezy recently shot the video for "All Aboard" in Miami; he called the clip "sexy," "seductive" and "elegant," but also revealed that this collaboration came very close to not making his album.

</P><P>"I was just like, I like the song but it's missing something, and at first I couldn't figure out what it was," Santos said. "What we did was we left 16 bars open, and I was like, you know, who would rip this track? Lil Wayne. So we reached out. It barely made the album because he's a busy dude, so he actually got on the record two months after we submitted it. It was like, if we don't get his vocals in the next two days we hit, and we got it, so we made it and the song is just really great."

</P><P>Wayne isn't the only artist Santos pulled in for his album. On his last single, "Promise," he teamed up with <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a>, who last week joined him onstage at <a href="/news/articles/1678993/romeo-santos-solo-tour.jhtml">Santos' first of three sold-out shows</a> at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Does Britney Spears Have 'The X Factor'?
MTV News takes a look at the pros and cons of bringing Spears onboard as a judge for the reality singing competition.

Opinion on whether the pop star is a good fit for the reality singing competition has been sharply divided, so we decided to take on the topic the way we're sure Simon Cowell did before making Spears a reported $10 million offer: a good, old-fashioned pros and cons list.

Its heavily hyped premiere pulled in 12.1 million total viewers and a meager 4.4/12 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18 to 49 demographic. That's about half of what the 2011 season of "American Idol" averaged ("Idol" is having its own ratings woes this season), and it didn't even win the night: Emmy-winning sitcom "Modern Family" drew 14.3 million viewers and a 6.0/15 for its season premiere.

</P><P>The poor ratings precipitated the overhaul that saw judges <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger</a> and host Steve Jones fired from the show.

</P><P>There's no question that Spears would bring viewers to "The X Factor." She enjoys a large and devout fanbase who will basically follow her just about anywhere. And beyond her own fans, Spears' celebrity would also likely draw attention from the general public, who will tune in simply to see how she does.

</P><P><big><b> Con: She's become nervous on camera </b></big><br>
</P><P>
</P><P>Though she can still wow a crowd live in concert, as evidenced by last year's successful tour behind her hit album <i>Femme Fatale,</i> Spears has become increasingly tentative during interviews. She rarely grants on-camera sit-downs, and when she does, she seems nervous and uncomfortable.
</P><P>
</P><P>To be a strong judge or mentor on a reality show, you have to be <i>very</i> comfortable on camera. Part of what made Jennifer Lopez click last season on "Idol" was that she came across as confident, direct and often empathetic. She even broke down in tears after <a href="/news/articles/1658584/americaon-idol-top-24.jhtml">sending home contestant Chris Medina</a>, whose fiancée suffered a severe brain injury in a car accident. The key word here is <i>after.</i> It's hard to imagine Spears being able to keep it together and deliver such difficult news in similar circumstances.
</P><P>It's worth noting that a high-drama situation arose on the first season of "The X Factor" -- one that left <a href="/news/articles/1675936/x-factor-rachel-crow-elimination-reaction.jhtml">contestant Rachel Crow sobbing</a> onstage and Scherzinger a wreck ... a wreck who received <a href="http://www.thefablife.com/2011-12-05/paula-abdul-and-nicole-scherzinger-receive-death-threats-after-the-x-factor-elimination/" target="_blank">death threats</a>. Producers should also consider whether it's wise to send Spears, who has dealt with emotional issues in the past, into a genre that thrives when the emotional stakes are high.

They are all still hitting the studio to make hit records, and that lends a great deal of credibility to their opinions when they critique a contestant's performance. We don't mean to slight Abdul or Scherzinger, but you could argue that a legacy singer who hasn't released an album in over 17 years and a performer who has had a difficult time getting her own solo singing career off the ground aren't the best judges of who does and does not have "The X Factor."

</P><P>On the other hand, Spears may be. <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2011/03/29/britney-spears-femme-fatale-reviews/">Last year's <i>Femme Fatale</i></a> gave Spears three top-10 singles — the most of any of her seven albums — and earned some of the best reviews of her career. While it's true that she did not write or produce much of the record, she was most certainly involved in picking her collaborators, which actually could speak well of her ability to know talent when she sees it. Spears also smartly chose red-hot rapper Nicki Minaj to open on the North American leg of her tour.

"Who is Britney Spears to judge a singing competition?" critics will scream (and they won't be wrong).

</P><P>When Aguilera critiques a performer's vocals, she speaks with authority — and her ear for singing proved to make her the most discerning judge on the "Voice" panel during the <a href="/news/articles/1679565/the-voice-christina-aguilera-jonathas-usher.jhtml">blind auditions</a>. Spears' judging style will likely be based on liking what's already there, but she's not going to have much insight on missed notes or pitch, which will cripple her ability to further mentor her team. How can she help them improve as vocalists when it's a truth universally acknowledged that she's not really a vocalist herself?

The pop singer is reportedly in talks to join Ryan Murphy's latest flick.

</P><P>Billed as "One Hit Wonders," the film would be a musical comedy that could potentially star B's pal Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg.

</P><P>The film would follow Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz as pop stars who hit it big in the '90s as — you guessed it — one-hit wonders. In order to gain back some of the pop-star recognition they once had, the ladies join forces and form a supergroup. Samberg and his Lonely Island team would be involved in coming up with the movie's songs. Beyoncé's role is still unknown.

</P><P>The "Glee" creator would direct and co-write the screenplay with his frequent collaborators, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. He's expected to begin work on it after his big-screen adaptation of the play "The Normal Heart." <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2012/02/ryan-murphy-plans-one-hit-wonders-with-gwyneth-paltrow-reese-witherspoon-cameron-diaz-beyonce-and-andy-samberg/" target="_blank">Deadline</a> reports that the film's idea came after Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz dined with Murphy at New York hotspot Soho House and they all wanted to work on a fun project together. The pitch to Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal was reportedly scooped up in 10 minutes. Deals are currently being worked out.

She recalled meeting the singer for the first time 15 years ago, just as she was breaking into the industry herself.

2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards: The Show, The Winners
It's one of the biggest night's in the independent film industry, and as the 2013 Spirit Awards come to an end, we grant you with the complete list of winners!
Earlier this evening (February 23), celebrities flocked to Santa Monica Beach for a night of celebrations honoring the best and brightest from the world of independent film.
Taking home the prize for Best Feature was the cast and crew of "Silver Linings Playbook," while John Hawkes ("The Sessions") and Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook") took home the awards for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.
In addition, Matthew McConaughey ("Magic Mike") scored a win for Best Supporting Actor, while Helen Hunt ("The Sessions") took home the prize for Best Supporting Actress.
Meanwhile, David O. Russell ("Silver Linings Playbook") proved victorious in the Best Director category and "Middle of Nowhere" received the John Cassavetes award, which pays homage to the best film created with a budget under $500,000.

Jason Yee Tippet and Elizabeth Mimms, Only the Young
Earlier this evening (February 23), celebrities flocked to Santa Monica Beach for a night of celebrations honoring the best and brightest from the world of independent film.
Taking home the prize for Best Feature was the cast and crew of "Silver Linings Playbook," while John Hawkes ("The Sessions") and Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook") took home the awards for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.
In addition, Matthew McConaughey ("Magic Mike") scored a win for Best Supporting Actor, while Helen Hunt ("The Sessions") took home the prize for Best Supporting Actress.
Meanwhile, David O. Russell ("Silver Linings Playbook") proved victorious in the Best Director category and "Middle of Nowhere" received the John Cassavetes award, which pays homage to the best film created with a budget under $500,000.

Paris Hilton Accepts Plea Deal
Paris Hilton does it again. E! News reports that the celebutante has accepted a plea deal that includes pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug possession and obstructing an officer.
In return, she avoids being charged with felony cocaine possession and gets two consecutive six-month jail sentences suspended. Translation: Paris won't have to spend a night in jail.
"We fashioned a resolution which would give us complete control over her future," Clark County District Attorney David Roger told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "If she does not toe the line and stay out of trouble, she will do one year in the Clark County Detention Center."
Paris reportedly will enter her plea on Monday. She will be on probation for one year, have to complete a drug abuse program, pay a fine of $2000, and complete 200 hours of community service (brace yourself for those pictures- LOL).
Does this sound fair to you or do you want to see Paris serve some time? Honestly, I think you could stick Paris in jail for five years, and it wouldn't change a thing.

They?ve never been shy when it comes to expressing their affection for each other, and Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy were at it again poolside in Miami today (February 22).
Joined by Hudson?s son Ryder Robinson, the ?Fool?s Gold? gal and her Muse rocker fianc� engaged in plenty of snuggling and making out on a lawn chair in the pool area of their hotel.

The ?Hunger Games? hunk began the day as a brunette but before long his coif morphed into a SoCal beach blonde hue.
It seems that Josh took his cue from costar Jennifer Lawrence who also recently refreshed her hair color.
Hutcherson also took care to keep the parking meter sufficiently fed so as to avoid an embarrassing fine like many of his celebrity peers.
