Mariah Carey Wheelchair-Bound After Twisting Ankle

Days after a video of Mariah Carey taking a dramatic tumble onstage over the weekend hit the Web, the powerhouse — and possibly pregnant — singer was snapped at Los Angeles' LAX airport tooling around in a wheelchair.
On Wednesday (September 29), Carey's rep revealed that the Grammy-winning songstress sustained an injury in Asia and that she needed the new set of wheels because the famously glamorous star only brought along treacherously high heels.
"Mariah twisted her ankle in Singapore and should have packed more sensible shoes, but she doesn't have any," Carey's rep, Cindi Berger, told UsMagazine.com. "I'm sending her a pair of flats today."
Although the video shows Carey sporting a fuller figure, the superstar songbird has ducked rumors that she is indeed expecting.
"I appreciate everyone's well-wishes. But I am very superstitious," she wrote on her website in August. "When the time is right, everyone will know — even Cindi Berger."
Carey's hubby, Nick Cannon, hasn't been any more forthcoming about whether the duo are expecting a little one. However, he has explained that Carey is waiting for the right time to announce any news she may have.
"I think 'superstitious' might be the wrong word," Cannon explained to Us last month. "I think it's more of a spiritual thing, like trying to stay true and stay private for as long as you possibly can. She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can."
Cannon maintained that Carey has the final word when it comes to confirming any impending arrivals.
"I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again — when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her," he said. "We all know it's extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff."
Despite the onstage spill, Carey sent out a post-show tweet referencing the incident and assuring fans that she was all right.
"TY SO much to my fans in Singapore!!! Yeah, several hectic moments, (lol!)but I tried to swirl them into festive!.Love+ God Bless!" she tweeted on Sunday. "Again Singapore, thanks so much for allowing me to just be who I am &just have fun+connect w/everyone there! Thanks 4 the LOVE!x0x"
Leave your well-wishes for Mariah in the comments.

Lindsay Lohan Admits To Failing Drug Test
Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.
TMZ is now reporting that Lindsay actually failed two drug tests. In addition to landing her in jail, this setback could also further derail Lindsay's career, according to TMZ.
Lindsay is now relying on Judge Elden Fox to allow her to leave California to shoot "Inferno" in Louisiana and possibly fly to New York City for "Saturday Night Live."
Here's the problem. Sources connected with the case have been telling TMZ ... if Lindsay were to fail a drug test the judge would probably pull the plug on out-of-state-travel -- a privilege for Lindsay, not a right.
...But all bets are off now that Lindsay has flunked two tests.
And sources close to Lindsay somehow already know the big wigs on "Inferno" are pissed that she may have screwed up again, so flying to Louisiana may be a moot question.
You can't really blame the 'Inferno' producers for being upset. It looks like the best thing for Lindsay at this point is a long-term stay in an inpatient facility that focuses solely on drug abuse (not drug problems and psychiatric problems, which is what the UCLA program did).
This is really just TOO sad.

Will Ferrell Says Fan Outcry Hasn't Helped 'Anchorman 2' Chances
Will Ferrell
Photo: MTV News
Covering the saga of "Anchorman 2" is kind of like viewing Panda Watch in '70s-era San Diego: Not a whole lot happens, yet you can't look away.
Five months after MTV News broke the news that negotiations by Will Ferrell and "Anchorman" director Adam McKay with Paramount for a sequel to their 2004 comedy had collapsed, we're still waiting and watching, hoping for good news.
Earlier this month, a small nugget of good news seemed to come in the form of McKay's comment to Collider that fan outcry had helped in their push to get "Anchorman 2" made. Was Paramount closer to getting onboard? Not at all, Ferrell told us.
"Nope," he said at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting "Everything Must Go." "Paramount, which is owned by your parent company, Viacom — so maybe [chairman] Sumner [Redstone] can get involved here in this — but they seem indifferent to any sort of public outcry for this."
The sticking point all along has been an inability to agree on a budget. Ferrell and his co-stars — including Paul Rudd and Steve Carell — cut their salaries, but Paramount remained wary of green-lighting a sequel to a film that was hardly a blockbuster in theaters and only took off on DVD and cable.
" 'Austin Powers' didn't make a ton of money in its first go-round, and then it caught fire in the next one," McKay told us he'd argued.
But Paramount was not convinced, and the sequel collapsed. While McKay holds out hope that the studio might eventually reconsider, Ferrell seems convinced "Anchorman 2" is not to be.
"It's very flattering to us," he said of the fan support. "We love it, but apparently, they don't care."
Check out everything we've got on "Anchorman: The Legend of Run Burgundy."

'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' Rakes In Box-Office Cash
Michael Douglas in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps"

The Box-Office Top Five
#1 "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" ($19 million)
#2 "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" ($16.3 million)
#3 "The Town" ($16 million)
#4 "Easy A" ($11 million)
#5 "You Again" ($8.3 million)
Moviegoers didn't sleep on the long-awaited follow-up to the 1987 financial drama "Wall Street." Twenty-three years after banking villain Gordon Gekko first fascinated audiences, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" took the box-office crown. Featuring Michael Douglas as fallen financial titan Gekko, Carey Mulligan as his estranged daughter Winnie and Shia LaBeouf as her fiancé, the sequel picked up $19 million during its debut weekend.
The animated, fantasy film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," about a crew of intrepid owls out to save the owl kingdoms from powerful foes, flew into second place. The adaptation from a children's book series, featuring voice-over contributions from Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush, raked in $16.3 million.
"The Town" maintained a top-five slot during its second weekend on screens. The Ben Affleck-helmed, cops-and-robbers flick is close behind "Ga'Hoole" with $16 million. The film's total estimated tally now stands at roughly $49 million.
Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes' high-school laugh-getter "Easy A" also maintained a solid second-week showing. Punching up well-worn, teen-friendly themes, such as rumor-mongering and social acceptance, the flick raked in $11 million. The weekend ticket sales bump the movie's total haul to nearly $33 million.
The rom-com "You Again" wrapped up its first weekend in theaters in fifth place. The film stars Kristin Bell as a PR professional faced with the prospect of her high-school enemy (played by Odette Yustman) becoming her sister-in-law. Hollywood vets Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver also turn in performances as soon-to-be-in-laws with their own strained past. The flick raked in $8.3 million.
Check out everything we've got on "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" and "The Town"

Michael Jackson Doctors Won't Be Charged In Singer's Death
Michael Jackson
Photo: Getty Images
Seven doctors who treated the late Michael Jackson will not be charged in the singer's death. According to The Associated Press California officials said Wednesday (July 28) that they will not file charges against the doctors who were under scrutiny as part of an investigation launched by the state's Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
Jackson passed away in June 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest. His personal doctor Conrad Murray — who was not one of the seven doctors included in the investigation — has been charged in his death and pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter after allegedly giving the star the potent anesthetic propofol.
"I am very disappointed," said Brian Oxman, an attorney for Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson. "The misuse of medications by Michael Jackson in the last years of his life was excessive and to fail to bring that to the public eye is ignoring reality." Oxman is serving as Joe Jackson's lawyer in a wrongful death suit against Murray.
Bureau spokesperson Christine Gasparac told the AP that one of the doctors who was under investigation was referred to the California Medical Board for prescribing drugs to one of Jackson's aliases, however, a spokesperson for the board did not confirm the referral. A spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Agency told the AP that it has also dropped its investigation into Jackson's doctors.
Murray lawyer Ed Chernoff has maintained that the doctor did not administer a fatal dose of propofol and has suggested that either Jackson gave himself the anesthetic or another person may have supplied the late star with the dose. However, an anesthesia expert has said the possibility of Jackson administering the drug himself is unlikely.
A preliminary hearing in the Jackson manslaughter case is slated for August and Murray faces a sentence of up to four years in jail.

Jay-Z Will Not Replace Mathew Knowles as Beyonce's Manager
Beyoncé
Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ WireImage
Jay-Z may be Beyoncé's husband, but the hip-hop heavyweight will not be managing the pop star anytime soon. According to a statement posted by the singer's management website, Music World Entertainment, Beyoncé's father, Mathew Knowles is not being replaced by Jay-Z or anyone else as her manager.
"Contrary to false rumors online, Beyoncé and her manager Mathew Knowles unequivocally have had and continue to have a close personal and business relationship. Mathew Knowles is the sole and exclusive manager of Beyoncé," the statement reads.
Mathew Knowles has always played an important part in his daughter's career, dating all the way back to her days in Destiny's Child. When the group split in 2005, Mathew continued managing Beyoncé as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. But Rowland and Williams recently parted ways with Knowles and his Music World Entertainment team. Earlier this year, he also denied claims that the trio were in talks to reunite Destiny's Child.
In addition to refuting the online rumors, the management company confirmed that the singer is working on upcoming music projects. "Furthermore, Beyoncé is readying the release of her new, highly anticipated DVD and has started the recording process for her new album," the statement concluded.
One producer that the singer may be reuniting with for her next record is Ne-Yo. The pair previously worked together on her hit single "Irreplaceable" back in 2006. Just last week, the soon-to-be father tweeted, "Mornin' NY!!! Studio with Mary J Blige last night, Beyonce tonight. I LOVE MY JOB!!! Shout out Jerry Wonder!!"

Rick Ross Goes Big-Budget With 'I'm Not A Star' Video

Rick Ross and director Spiff TV shot a video for "I'm Not a Star," from Teflon Don, a few days ago in Miami, but this isn't like their previous viral efforts. The Bawse, in full support of Spiff's skills, shelled out for big-money production value on this one.
"It was dope. While I was on the set, I told Spiff I was proud of him to see where we started from, the viral ground up, to seeing the homie with a budget and a production crew and a [photography director] and playback screens," Ross said Friday (September 24) via phone from Dallas. "Just all the small things that help directors become great."
Spiff, also in D-Town, said the video centers on a strong performance by Ross.
"It's epic," the director said Friday. "We're showing exotics, the cars, the imagery. Birdman came through — Ross and Birdman are brothers, so he came through. Khaled did. Showed the support."
Spiff, who also does A&R at Ross' Maybach Music Group, says the team was encouraged to make "I'm Not a Star" a video because of overwhelming reaction to the song during live performances.
"The streets really f--- with it," Spiff described. "Everybody f---s with that song. When Ross performed it in New York, the Governors Island sh--, they knew it as if it was a single. The whole crowd knew the song. That's one of my favorites. Then we was in a club for some Nike sh--, I'm watching Jay-Z do every word. Ross is performing it, Jay is in the cut. I'm like, 'Damn, he knows every word.' It's crazy. After seeing everybody show love, we said we have to shoot the video for it."
Ross said the song is "definitely taking it back to the streets."
"We wanted to bring it to life," he explained. "That's what the homie Spiff captured."
"I'm Not a Star" should be out in the next week or so.
The next video Spiff will direct for Ross is "MC Hammer." Hammer himself will be in that clip.
In between the Spiff TV-commissioned shorts, Ricky Rozay will drop "Aston Martin Music." He recently shot that video with Gil Green.
"The 'Aston Martin' video was definitely some sh--," Ross said. "Me, Drake, Birdman came out, Chrisette Michele. Just the setting, the locations — that really took the video over the top. We captured that beautiful side of Miami, that outdoors feeling. We did our thing. The performances most definitely was next level. I'm excited about that record and that video."
What other Teflon Don songs do you think Ross should shoot videos for? Share your thoughts in the comments!

VMA Nominations By The Numbers: Lady Gaga On Top
Lady Gaga
Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News
For an artist who has quickly made a habit of smashing records, Lady Gaga improbably did it again on Tuesday (August 2). She leaped past such career stars as "Telephone"/ "Video Phone" collaborator Beyoncé to set a new record for the most nominations in a single year for MTV's Video Music Awards, which air Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET.
The Mother Monster racked up 13 nods, far outpacing the artists with the second-most nominations, a resurgent Eminem, who racked up eight. On her way to setting the record, Gaga also became the first female artist nominated for two different clips in the coveted Video of the Year category for "Bad Romance" and "Telephone."
But 13 isn't the only significant number this year. We've pored over the nominations and here's a breakdown of the other figures popping out at the 2010 Video Music Awards:
1994: The year Usher's debut was released. As for the other nominees in the Best Male Video category, Eminem hit the scene in 1996, while the other three acts in the category — Drake, B.o.B and Jason DeRulo — didn't release their full-length debuts until 2010.
25: Nominated artists who've appeared on a NOW That's What I Call Music! Compilation: Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Rihanna, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Jason DeRulo, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Drake, Eminem, David Guetta, Katy Perry, 3OH!3, Kid Cudi, Pink, Beyonce, Coldplay, David Guetta, Enrique Iglesias, Green Day, Gorillaz, Jay-Z, MGMT, Muse and Paramore.
23 years: Age difference between Best New Artists nominees Broken Bells' James Mercer (39) and Justin Bieber (16).
9: The record Gaga will have to beat if she wants to snag the distinction of most wins in a single night, currently held by Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer."
7: Number of nominated artists who are playing at this year's Lollapalooza festival: B.o.B., Dan Black, Green Day, MGMT, Mumford and Sons, Lady Gaga and the Black Keys.
6: First time nominees, including B.o.B., Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons.
2 1/2: Artists nominated in the Video of the Year category who were up for the award last year: Gaga (with assist from last year's winner, Beyoncé) and Eminem.
2: Previous times Eminem has been nominated for Video of the Year.
1: Number of times the band Ratatat has been mentioned before in connection with the VMAs.
1: Opportunities for a cast member of "Jersey Shore" to hop up onstage during an award acceptance, should Enrique Iglesias win for "I Like It" from the "Shore" soundtrack album.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from Tuesday (August 3) through September 12.
Are you surprised by any of this year's nominees? Talk about it in the comments.

Guillermo Del Toro Says 'The Fall' Vampires 'Don't Sparkle'
Guillermo del Toro
Photo: MTV News
Guillermo del Toro is a jolly fellow. You'll be 20 minutes into a conversation filled with jokey repartee and his self-deprecating asides, and you'll think: This is the guy who unleashed a swarm of killer cockroaches on a city full of children in "Mimic"?
Then, suddenly, a fuse will blow in the studio, and as your crew scrambles to re-light the set, del Toro will say, with a mix of charm and do-not-cross-me gravity, "My DP would punch you!"
But his director of photography is nowhere to be seen, nor are plague-laden roaches, and all soon returns to normal. Del Toro is here to chat about "The Fall," the second book in his trilogy (co-written with Chuck Hogan), about a parasitic epidemic turning a city's population into blood-sucking vampires. It's grim material, no doubt, but the director-turned-novelist talks ebulliently, almost from start to finish, about the book, its influences and its development.
He's got a right to be happy. Like the first installment, "The Fall" became a bestseller, thanks to robust pre-orders before it even hit shelves Tuesday. And, having dealt with a heartbreaking, years-long struggle to make "The Hobbit," del Toro is energized to be temporarily working outside the Hollywood machine, writing fiction about a subject he's been obsessed with since the age of 7.
The Oscar nominee is getting set to dive back into moviemaking, of course, and is deep into preproduction on his 3-D collaboration with James Cameron, "At the Mountains of Madness."
That, too, is a project he's been dreaming about for decades. Yet to hear del Toro talk about "The Fall" is to realize the special place fiction holds in his creative heart. And it doesn't hurt that the book is one kick-ass page-turner.
MTV: I'm, first of all, curious about the process. You've written screenplays with other people; you've now written two books with Chuck Hogan. How do those two processes differ, if at all?
Guillermo del Toro: It's much better than writing solo. Writing the books is very similar to writing the screenplays with collaborators. For the books, we get together for what Chuck terms "a four-day breakfast." We talk and eat, and eat and talk. Eventually, we figure out everything we want about the book, we go away, we generate a 30-page outline, and then we call dibs: "I want this section. I want that section." I think I get all the fun sections. I write them and send them to him, and when I get his sections, I realize he got a lot of fun sections, and I get envious and rewrite them. He rewrites my stuff, and we go from there. It becomes a single voice.
MTV: There's more of an action vibe in the second book than in the first. Was that one of the goals, to mix much more action into your horror story?
Del Toro: Chuck says that we got together on the first one and took our Legos and created the city and the characters, and on the second, we finally get to play with them, and on the third, we're going to destroy it.
MTV: The vampires in the trilogy are unique compared to other depictions of vampires in popular culture in that vampirism is a disease. Where'd the idea come from? Any specific sources?
Del Toro: During the Age of Enlightenment, there were plagues in Europe and vampiric panics that led to ransacking of graveyards and desecration of corpses. There was mass hysteria about vampires. I thought that in this age of GPS and iPhones, the only thing that reverts us to primitive fear is a viral epidemic. Immediately, you see people wearing masks and not opening mail for fear of anthrax. And if you talk to these people, most of them have no idea how anything is transmitted. It's very superstitious. I thought it would be great to recreate vampires biologically, explain how they work, and make them scary again. I've been reading vampiric folklore since I was 7. I know more about vampires than I know about my cousins.
MTV: What is the lure of telling this story in book form, as opposed to, say, in comic books, video games or as a TV series?
Del Toro: The only way to really track the epidemic was the long-arc form. You could have done it as a TV series or books. The freedom you get by doing it as books is you get to establish the characters and the world the way you want it. You don't get any notes from studio executives and TV executives. You don't test it with an audience. You don't have to get feedback. You don't mind about ratings. You do everything you want. It was a liberating thing to do it that way. I found it to be, personally, as a fat human being, an escape pod from really constrictive screenplay writing, especially within the studio environment. I really love writing fiction. It's like an amusement park for me. I have no end of fun.
MTV: And it's an excuse to have four-day breakfasts with your friends.
Del Toro: Everything I do, I feel like I'm a very well-financed child. I just do everything I dreamt of doing as a kid, and I get to do it with the friends I like. Someone puts us in a room together, and we build a city that is crazy, and we get in costumes and play, and then you have dinner with those people. It's like camp for abnormal kids. I'm deeply abnormal, so I am very happy.
MTV: When the trilogy concludes, will that ending be final or does the possibility exist for the stories of any of these characters to continue?
Del Toro: We don't want to return to it. We really want to close it on the third book. I would love to continue to do a short story now and then about the world or the characters, but with the novel form, we will close on the third one. The arc ends.
MTV: I don't need to tell you how popular vampire fiction is these days. In your interactions with fans, in readings and whatnot, have you found a lot of overlap with fans of "Twilight" or "The Vampire Diaries," or is it very much a separate crowd?
Del Toro: There is room for fans of vampire romance to look for the nastiest vampires. Our trilogy is dedicated to a parasitic feeding entity. These guys don't sparkle. They won't take you to dinner. You will be dinner. They are mouths with a stomach and a collective brain — the terrifying inhuman aspect of vampirism. The other aspect is perfectly genuine, and I don't put it down, but it's an area I have no interest in. I'm not attracted to the Byronian badboy that vampires can be. That's an analogy I don't pursue. But we do find people that are reading both types of fiction and enjoying it. Diversity is the key to happiness.
MTV: When the first book came out, you said you talked with Fox about a TV show, and it didn't work out. This time around, have you tried to go back to the networks or cable?
Del Toro: When the first one was on the bestseller list, we got a lot of calls. Some of the people we pitched it to originally called back. We don't want to turn it into anything. We want to wait until the third book because we don't want to think about it any other way than just books. You don't want to contaminate it. We got approached by studios wanting to turn them into movies. I don't feel comfortable with that. I don't know if I ever will. We're going to do stuff in the third book that is pretty hardcore. I don't know if we'd be able to preserve it. But, look, my favorite stuff is on TV right now.
"Breaking Bad" is exceptionally good. At my household, we consider "Dexter" a family show. Partnering up with somebody like that would be fantastic.

Britney Spears' Ex-Bodyguard Defends Lawsuit
Britney Spears
Photo: David Aguilera/ BuzzFoto/ FilmMagic
A former bodyguard for pop superstar Britney Spears defended his sexual-harassment lawsuit Thursday (September 9), saying he's "standing up for what I believe is right."
Fernando Flores, the bodyguard who alleged earlier this week that the pop singer repeatedly made unwanted sexual advances toward him and exposed her naked or near-naked body to him, gave a quick interview to TMZ outside his lawyer's Orange County office.
Spears, however, denied the allegations, posting a statement on her website saying that she and her attorneys believed the suit would be dismissed. "This lawsuit is another unfortunate situation where someone is trying to take advantage of the Spears family and make a name for himself," the statement read.
To Spears' statement, Flores told the gossip website "if that's what they think, then that's what they think."
A dollar amount isn't cited in the suit -- which is posted on TMZ -- but Flores is seeking damages based on the sexual-harassment incidents and for "intentional infliction of emotional distress." Flores also alleged in the suit that Spears abused her children. In the suit, he said the 28-year-old had sex and engaged in violent arguments in front of her two young sons.
Sources told TMZ that Flores' accusations of child abuse (including an incident where he says Spears allegedly whipped one of her sons with a belt) were declared without merit by the Department of Children and Family Services.

Kanye West Fans Aren't Seeing Eye To Eye On 'See Me Now'
Kanye West
Photo: Dominique Charriau/WireImage
Fans agree that Kanye West is back, but they can't seem to agree on how they feel about that. The MC unveiled his latest single, "See Me Now," on Wednesday, and since then, Kanye followers have being going back and forth about whether the track is on fire or a fail.
The song, which features soulful contributions from Beyoncé and Charlie Wilson, is expected to appear on his upcoming untitled album, but, for many, the song takes things back to the MC's debut, College Dropout.
"Wow, it reminds me of College Dropout. Good to hear 'Ye laugh!" Ezekiel wrote on West's Kanye UniverseCity blog.
Bryan C.G. agreed: "This totally feel like your Dropout days. I love it."
Some fans, such as Prolifik, are all about 'Ye reviving the strings-laden throwback soul that kicked off his recording career. "Amazing! Classic flow, classic beats," the fan wrote. "I miss that old College Dropout steez! Welcome back, 'Ye."
" 'Ye is back!!!!" Tiffany wrote. "Hip Hop needs you so much!! You're brilliant."
While lots of online commenters are feeling the song, some of the MC's fans aren't seeing the appeal of "See Me Now." "This song is hot garbage," Luis Ariza declared on West's Facebook page.
The Facebook post announcing the song scored more than 580 "likes" at press time, however, some fans were not on the "See Me Now" bandwagon. "[It's the] first song from Kanye that I have not liked," Ariza wrote.
"This song needs major work," Real Talk proclaimed on West's blog. "I want harder beats and to be able to move my feet."
Chad Jones also chimed in on Facebook: "Not feelin it. Huge Kanye fan and love the evolution in his music but the track is wack. Lyrics are nice but track is wack."
" 'Ye is the man, but this song is WEAK!!!" Wallace Leeth wrote.
Jay Yey Couture thought the G.O.O.D. Music lyricist was upstaged by fellow superstar Beyoncé and undermined by the instrumental. "Kanye will sell this fall, that's for sure. However Beyoncé made this song!!!!!" the fan typed. "Kanye had too much time to come with ... this [weak] beat ... he could have did wayyyyy better."
Yeezy might not have won over all his fans with the single, but he does have the opportunity to redeem himself on the awards-show stage: West will perform at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, which air live September 12 at 9 p.m. The appearance marks his VMA return after a notorious onstage dustup with Taylor Swift, but it appears the rapper is taking the incident in stride. West closes "See Me Now" with the ad lib, "Uncle Charlie, by the way. And I'mma let you finish, but I got Beyoncé on the track."
What do you think of "See Me Now"? Let us know in the comments below!
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners from now through September 12.

Ryan Reynolds Likens Filming 'Buried' To 'A Fever Dream'
Ryan Reynolds
Photo: MTV News
Props to Ryan Reynolds for stepping out of his standard zany comedy and blockbuster action film roles and into the intense — and claustrophobia-inducing — thriller "Buried." The entire film takes place inside a wooden coffin buried under the sand of the Iraqi desert. Reynolds plays Paul Conroy, a desperate man trying to escape, and he is the only actor shown onscreen.
When we caught up with Reynolds and his "Buried" director, Rodrigo Cortes, we wondered what kind of prep the "Green Lantern" actor did to get ready to be in that box for so long.
"This is the only film I've ever done where I did not rehearse a moment of it before stepping onto the set," Reynolds said. "I just don't know if you could. Who wants to? It would be awful to try and rehearse this at home and try to express all of these different kinds of emotions in a close-up.
"It's just something you've gotta do when you're out there, and then it will feel like a fever dream," he continued. "And that's what it was. I walked away thinking it felt like I had a weird nightmare."
So would Reynolds rather get back in a box for a sequel or do another "Van Wilder" movie?
"Gosh, that's a good question," he said. "I'll take another film in a box, because the reward is pretty great doing a film like this."
Speaking of rewards, Reynolds' director had nothing but the highest praise for his star.
"[Ryan is] an actor able to develop very deep and very committed emotions with very small things, in a very organic way," Cortes said. "It's impossible to catch him lying. He never acts; he always is. It's amazing. It's so heartbreaking."
He went on to compare Reynolds to one of the most memorable actors in Hollywood history: Cary Grant.
"He has an alien sense of timing. I haven't seen anyone like that since Cary Grant, so it's a gift for a director," Cortes said. "So from the very first moment, he was a long shot, he was going to say no, it was between 'The Proposal' and 'Green Lantern,' so come on, is he going to come to Barcelona to our little box? But for some reason, he said yes. I still wonder why."
A humbled Reynolds seemed flattered by the compliments. "That is high praise. I've taken it with a grain of salt or a crate of Valium," he laughed. "It was a unique opportunity, and I would have been a fool to not pursue this with everything I had. It was just such an amazing script with an amazing filmmaker and something that had never, ever been done before."
Watching "Buried" with an audience, Reynolds said, is as unique as filming the project. "I've never been a part of a film where you walk into the theater and everybody takes a deep breath before the credits start rolling and you don't exhale until the end," he said. "It's just amazing."
Check out everything we've got on "Buried."

Spotted out together on Saturday (September 18), the cute couple were all smiles as they strolled hand in hand as they met up with Elisabetta's family.
The duo stayed in Miss Canalis's parents' country home for the first few nights before sneaking off to the exclusive Hotel Villa Las Tronas for a romantic evening sans parental supervision.
Dishing on a George and Elisabetta sighting, an insider told People magazine, "He looked rather awkward with the 7-month infant in his arms, but he posed politely and carefully handed the baby back."
The source added, "One of the older women there shouted, ''Ora tocca a te!'' [''It's your turn now!'']. Clooney obviously didn''t understand, but everyone turned to look at Elisabetta. She simply smiled."

'Spider-Man' Star Andrew Garfield Bares His Soul In 'Never Let Me Go'
Andrew Garfield
Photo: MTV News
In "Never Let Me Go," director Mark Romanek's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's award-winning novel, Andrew Garfield plays a character whose emotions are never far from the surface, faced with the frustrating certainty of his impending death.
While the basic premise for the film is set firmly in the realm of science-fiction, the narrative itself shares little in common with the average futuristic story filled with robots and advanced technology. Instead, "Never Let Me Go" offers an intimate look at three people whose lives have a very public expiration date and what they do with the time they're given.
"What is at the core of the story is a very human story, discussing what it is to have a soul, and how you prove what a soul is," Garfield told MTV News. "Do we have souls? It's actually [a story] about being human."
For Garfield, the film is likely to be the calm before the storm, of sorts. The actor will appear next in David Fincher's "The Social Network" before swinging into theaters as the new star of the "Spider-Man" movie franchise in the 2012 blockbuster. Whether any of his upcoming roles will afford him the same emotional journey as "Never Let Me Go" is uncertain, but Garfield seems keen on getting the most out of his roles — like the chance to let loose with the occasional raw, primal scream.
"It was intense to do," said Garfield of the scenes in which his character, no longer able to contain his anger and frustration, erupts with a heart-wrenching wail.
"I think those screams are inside all of us, I just got a chance to let mine out," he said. "At one point during every single day, you want to do that, but you don't express that — you keep everything locked in. And that's OK, that's what it is to grow and not be a baby anymore. But when you're first born, you don't know why you shouldn't scream. To react in that very childish, free, expressive, instinctive way of being was kind of beautiful to do.
"I think it's kind of important that we find a room where we can do that once a week, once an hour," he laughed. "I think that's kind of necessary."
With "Never Let Me Go" kicking off a limited release in theaters this week, audiences have the chance to see Garfield flex his acting muscles well ahead of his mainstream gigs, but the actor seems intent on keeping perspective, describing his debut as Peter Parker as "just another role." However, he admits that his experience during last weekend's MTV Video Music Awards offered him a chance to observe what happens once you're firmly rooted in the spotlight.
"It was surreal, man," he said. "It was surreal to be there, and it was surreal to be with Justin [Timberlake] in his element, so to speak. It was really exciting. I felt like I could be a fly on the wall, because no one knows who the hell I am. I could just be there and observe all this weirdness going on all around."
In the end, it might be a good thing that Garfield has "Never Let Me Go" behind him before Hollywood makes his life even more surreal, as the lessons he learned from the experience bode well for avoiding potential "weirdness."
"[The story of 'Never Let Me Go'] is reminding us hopefully that we do have a choice to we wake up in the morning and think, 'What do I want to do?' Not 'What should I do?' and 'What am I obliged to do?' but 'What do I want to do with this very unique day?'
"I think it can be a call to arms for that kind of excitement about life," he said. "And I love the story for that."

Justin Bieber Wins Best New Artist VMA
Justin Bieber at the 2010 VMAs
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images
This year, a slew of music newbies pumped out catchy hits and worked a signature style, be it side-swept bangs or cartoonish wigs. With so many choices, it's a good thing we left the business of picking this year's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Best New Artist up to the fans at home. And to no one's surprise, they chose Justin Bieber.
The VMA rookie took home the Moonman for the smash clip "Baby." The video was up against some chart-topping competition, as Jason Derülo ("In My Head"), Ke$ha ("Tik Tok"), Nicki Minaj ("Massive Attack") and Broken Bells ("The Ghost Inside") were all up for hardware.
"Wow," the teen sensation gasped after making his way to the stage. Bieber said that as a young kid from Canada, he was surprised by the honor, saying, "This means a lot to me." The teen star shouted out music industry execs, showed respect to his "big bro" ("Thank you to Usher for being my mentor") and, of course, his fans: "Thank you to everybody here."
The win was another highlight of a big night for the teen superstar and his army of Beliebers. Bieber hit the stage early in the night for a throwback-themed rendition of his hits "Baby" and "Somebody to Love," which included his own amped-up drum solo.
Bieber, who presented last year, was excited to take his VMA experience to the next level and hit the stage at this year's festivities.
"I'm excited to be performing at the VMAs. It is all still unbelievable, because last year I went for the first time and no one knew who I was," Bieber said recently. "Just really shows that dreams can come true and what incredible, dedicated fans I have. I'm a lucky guy and grateful. Now I just want to get on that stage, have some fun in front of my heroes, because at the end of the day I'm still a kid and still a fan."
The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Win Grammy Album Of The Year
Alison Krauss and Robert Plant accept the award for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on Sunday
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images
"I'm bewildered," Robert Plant said onstage as he accepted the Grammy Album of the Year award with Alison Krauss on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."
He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because Raising Sand, which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect Grammy album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.
You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his Led Zeppelin days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history.
Really, she's the key to Sand's success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music — so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, Sand was released.
And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain.
And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on Sand. His arrangements are sparse — giving the two voices ample room to breathe — yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified.
To date, Sand has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year — "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.
One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album.
"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really good record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards."

Johnny Knoxville Talks 'Jackass 3.5'
Johnny Knoxville and Jim Cantiello

"Jackass 3D" is not even in theaters yet, but one of its stars, Johnny Knoxville, is already talking sequel. Knoxville says the crew shot so many high jinks for the movie, opening October 15, that they couldn't get them all in. But Knoxville has plans for the scenes left on the cutting-room floor.
"Man, we filmed so much stuff. So much great stuff got left out of the film because we just overshot," Knoxville explained to MTV News. "That'll be in '[Jackass] 3.5,' coming out at Christmas," he said of a DVD release.

Rihanna's 'Battleship' Will Join Pantheon Of Singers' First Flicks
Taylor Swift in "Valentine's Day"
Photo: New Line Cinema
Last February, during a swing through South Korea, Rihanna told MTV Asia that she had dreams of becoming a Hollywood superstar.
"I would love to get into comedic movies," the 22-year-old said. "As well as action. I love action. I would love to play a badass one day."
Well, a badass she very well might be, as she's signed onto "Battleship," a sci-fi action flick based on the classic board game and co-starring Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgård. Of course, this isn't the first time a celebrated singer has ditched the recording studio for the soundstage. As Rihanna boards "Battleship," she joins a long line of artists-turned-actresses. Let's take a look back at the first movie roles from some our favorite singers.
Beyoncé in "Austin Powers in Goldmember"
No disrespect to the 2001 MTV movie "Carmen: A Hip Hopera," but 2002's "Goldmember" was Beyoncé's first turn on the big screen. And what a debut it was. She essentially played herself, albeit a '70s version of herself with super high hair and a handgun, but that is exactly what Beyoncé needed. The role didn't require very much in terms of acting chops and gave her the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera. Veteran comedic talent like Mike Myers, Seth Green and Michael Caine got the laughs, while Beyoncé benefited from simply sharing the frame. "Goldmember" grossed almost $300 million worldwide, and she went on to star in the critically acclaimed "Dreamgirls" a few years later.
Madonna in "A Certain Sacrifice"
Madge's first high-profile role arrived in 1985 with "Desperately Seeking Susan," but she actually shot her first movie six years earlier. The low-budget "A Certain Sacrifice," a sex-and-violence filled story set in New York's Lower East Side, languished on the shelf for years until Madonna hit the mainstream. She actually did everything she could to prevent the film's release, but "Certain Sacrifice" eventually got a home video release. Madonna might not be proud of the flick, but it certainly didn't have a negative effect on her Hollywood career. She went on to star in a slew of glitzy productions, including "Evita," for which she won a Golden Globe in 1997.
Queen Latifah in "Jungle Fever"
Latifah signed her first record deal when she was just 17. By the time she was 21, she'd also landed a small role in Spike Lee's "Jungle Fever." She went on to meatier roles in "House Party 2" and "Juice," opposite Tupac Shakur. By the new millennium, she had an Oscar nomination for "Chicago" on her résumé and a string of starring credits to her name.
Britney Spears in "Crossroads"
At perhaps the height of her fame, Spears took on a starring role in 2002's "Crossroads," a road-trip story featuring musical interludes and the talents of Dan Aykroyd and Zoe Saldana. The film was a critical dud and a box-office disappointment, and Spears has yet to get another chance at the big screen. In recent years, she's contented herself with cameo appearances in "How I Met Your Mother."
Taylor Swift in "Valentine's Day"
The country superstar appeared as herself in 2009's "Hannah Montana: The Movie," but not until this year's hit ensemble comedy, "Valentine's Day," did Swift slip into an acting role. She played a high school student who falls for her classmate, played by none other than Taylor Lautner. No word yet what her next movie project might be, but her, "Valentine's" director Garry Marshall is gearing up for his next ensemble flick, "New Year's Eve." Ms. Swift, ya interested?
Who is your favorite musician-turned-actor? Talk about it in the comments.

Lady Gaga's VMA Meat Dress: Style Experts Weigh In!
Lady Gaga at the 2010 VMAs
Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images
Lady Gaga wore several very interesting outfits to the VMAs on Sunday night. While she went glam in two creations (one by Alexander McQueen and one by Giorgio Armani), she was more grisly in her meat dress, shoes, bag and hat, designed by Franc Fernandez and put together by her frequent stylist, Nicola Formichetti.
The look had the fashion world buzzing by Monday morning, spawning blog headlines such as, "Was it offensive or awesome?"
"Too bad she didn't wear it with a grill," Nylon digital director Faran Krentcil told MTV News in an e-mail about the gutsy design that echoes the bikini Gaga wore on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan.
Kelly Cutrone was all about the look. "I don't get it what's the beef with Gaga — Gaga is the Queen of the Universe, and no one should say anything negative about her or they will be attacked by her millions of fans," the PR maven and star of "The City" told MTV News. "I am happy to see her looking so healthy and to see she put a little extra meat on!"
Meanwhile, TV personality and "Telephone" co-star Jai Rodriguez commented that Gaga is creating a professional challenge for him. "Well, I am currently playing a character where the script says, 'Take it a step further than Gaga would,' " he explained. "I'm no longer sure that's possible after last night's dinner frock."
Food was certainly on other fashion-minded folks' minds. "It's creepy and amazing at the same time, but I know what I won't be eating today," Fashion Critic wrote on RedCarpet-FashionAwards.com.
