Justin Bieber Searches For One Fan To Dance On Believe Tour

"We're gonna make you believe in magic," tour director Jon Chu says in online casting call.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> is offering up a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for one of his lucky Beliebers.</P><P>The singer has just launched a campaign where fans can upload videos of themselves dancing. One lucky dancer will score a coveted audition spot with Bieber to try and snag a dancer position on his <a href="/news/articles/1686358/justin-bieber-believe-tour.jhtml"><i>Believe</i> tour</a>.</P><P>Bieber, with the help of his "Never Say Never" helmer and his tour director, Jon M. Chu, will be scouring <a href="http://www.youtube.com/ds2dio" target="_blank">Chu's D-Studio</link> to find the next great dancing talent. The campaign launched Friday (August 3), while in-person dance auditions kicked off earlier this week in L.A.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Proving His Haters Wrong With 'Good Music'" id="vid:793035" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"Justin also has such a huge online component, that's where he was discovered," Chu told <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/335327/Justin-Bieber-Launches-New-Site-to-Find-Dancers-for-Believe-Tour" target="_blank">E! News</a>. "You can upload your own video and audition."</P><P>"We're only looking for the best dancers in the world. I know you and I, we want to take it to a whole other level," choreographer Nick DeMoura added in a video posted with Chu on D-Studio about the tour. "It's gonna be like an epic journey."</P><P>The guys are looking for dancers of all styles. Chu added that Bieber and the team have a certain goal for the tour, "We're gonna make you believe in magic." Submissions must be in by August 17. The tour kicks off September 29 in Glendale, Az. <a href="/news/articles/1690792/carly-rae-jepsen-justin-bieber-tour.jhtml">Carly Rae Jepsen will open</a> for the singer.</P><P>If dancers are looking for some inspiration, <a href="/news/articles/1688265/justin-bieber-after-believe.jhtml">manager Scooter Braun</a> has noted that the King of Pop has been influencing the <a href="/news/articles/1690978/rihanna-only-girl-best-pop-video-video-music-awards.jhtml">VMA-nominated Bieber</a> as of late.</P><P>Not only does Michael Jackson inspire the <a href="/news/articles/1691125/justin-bieber-michael-madsen-michael-jackson-connection.jhtml">"As Long As You Love Me" video</a>, but he also inspires the trek, kicking off this fall.</P><P>"He has been watching a tremendous amount of Michael Jackson concerts from the '80s and '90s," Braun shared. "And he has been talking to me about how Michael incorporated magic and pyro and reveals and he wants to bring in that. [But] still do that acoustic thing, but he wants to take it to a whole new level.</P><P>"It's just really exciting," he continued. "Nothing makes him happier than being onstage. So it's gonna be fun to get back onto the road. I think he was an amazing performer before, but his level of dance and musicianship and his range [has grown]. He's a veteran now. <P>Of all the images that make up the video for <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s <a href="/news/articles/1690963/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-music-video-premiere.jhtml">"As Long As You Love Me,"</a> none are as memorable as the moment that Michael Madsen lands his first punch on the singer.</P><P>Madsen's overprotective-father character may have enjoyed leaving Bieber bloody for wanting to date his daughter, but in real life, the actor said he didn't take any pleasure in the one-two punch.</P><P>"I didn't exactly enjoy slapping him around," he told MTV News on Thursday, one day after the video premiered. "Had he been a prick, had he been a brat, you know, I might have had fun with that. But he was actually, he was the opposite."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Michael Madsen Has A Soft Spot For Justin Bieber" id="vid:822276" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>If fans are wondering if Bieber was nervous to take a beating for the <a href="/news/articles/1690932/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-video.jhtml">Anthony Mandler-directed clip</a>, Madsen explained that Bieber was more concerned about having it look real than scared to take the hit.</P><P>"He was very respectful, very respectful and decent to me," he said. "I think he wanted it to be well-done. I don't think he was blowing it off. I think that I've been around enough to know I can tell if somebody isn't really doing their job or taking what they do seriously. And I could tell from early on in the morning that he was. He wanted it to be right. He wanted it to be specific and had a good car, a '68 Charger. That's a pretty bitching car, you know? I saw that damn thing parked in front of the house and I went 'Wow, I hope that's mine.' But they put me in a Rolls Royce; not too bad at all."</P><P>So, given that Bieber and Madsen trade physical barbs <i>and</i> verbal ones, does the actor think Bieber has a future in Hollywood? "He had good eye contact. He was focused. He didn't have a double. I think he should leave the acting up to me," he laughed. "He can sing though. See I can't do that. It goes both ways. He can sing his head off and he's damn good at it, and I couldn't get close to that. Bieber dives headlong into adulthood — and takes a beating from Michael Madsen — in his brand-new video.

<P>When Justin Bieber dropped his <a href="/news/articles/1684446/justin-bieber-boyfriend-video.jhtml">"Boyfriend"</a> video back in May, he made one thing very clear: He's all grown up.</P><P>Yes, with its cool cars, hot clothes and even hotter women, "Boyfriend" was <i>precisely</i> the kind of video a newly minted 18-year-old would make, had they the means (and the relationship with <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2010/09/24/lil-x-director-x/">Director X</a>). It was a supercharged, supremely budgeted <i>man's</i> fantasy, and, much like manhood itself, there was nothing subtle about it.</P><P><object width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="embeddedPlayer" data="http://videoplayer.vevo.com/embed/embedded" style="visibility: visible;"><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="flashvars" value="playerType=embedded&videoId=USUV71201064&playlist=false&enableDomScan=true&siteSection=MTV_mtv.com&playerId=62FF0A5C-0D9E-4AC1-AF04-1D9E97EE3961&autoplay=0&endScreen=play&cc=US&cultureName=en-US&cultureIsRTL=False&sbId=14A00605-7DB5-4492-B67B-CB2093BD89DD"></object></P><P>And while the same can be said about his brand-new "As Long as You Love Me" clip &#8212; it's about a subtle as a hammer to the head &#8212; that's where the similarities between the two videos end. Director Anthony Mandler tones down the excess in favor of a genuine grittiness, and, in the process, makes "Boyfriend" look like child's play. If that clip was a fantasy ride, well, then "ALAYLM" is a reality trip. Adulthood isn't <i>all</i> fun and games, after all.</P><P>Part tragic love story, part pulpy thriller, the new vid finds Bieber flexing his acting muscles opposite Michael Madsen &#8212; that'll put hair on his chest &#8212; who plays an overprotective father/probable career criminal with a penchant for gaudy fashion (which is to say, the same kind of role he's been playing for 20 years now). Biebs has only the noblest of intentions for his daughter, but Madsen refuses to give their relationship his approval &#8212; a point he drives home when he advises JB to "hit the road."</P><P>Of course, given that this is a tragedy, Bieber doesn't listen, and, in-between some scenes of the young couple exploring the limits of their love &#8212; definitely his most adult to date &#8212; we learn that JB plans on rescuing his girlfriend from the grips of her father, via a late-night train station rendezvous. As you might expect, this doesn't sit particularly well with Madsen, who confronts Bieber and dishes out a savage beating (though at least he doesn't <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLTqecGbdCc" target="_blank">cut his ear off</a>) while his daughter looks on in horror.</P><P>And while you'd think all that violence would be enough to further cement his love interest's desire to flee, sadly, she leaves Bieber standing at the train station, and at clip's end, he is heartbroken ... and alone. For the first time, Bieber <i>doesn't</i> get the girl, and the message seems to be clear: Being a grown-up ain't all it's cracked up to be.</P><P>In a lot of ways, "As Long as You Love Me" is probably a risk for Bieber; he dares to dirty up his image and isn't afraid to take a beating. Those scenes of violence are are particularly vivid, as are the subsequent performance shots where Bieber belts out the tune with blood dripping from his face. It's a credit to his newfound maturity that he'd trust Mandler's vision and allow the "ALAYLM" video to go to such great lengths. Bieber seems to have figured that out, and, in doing so, he's only further separated himself from his tween-pop forefathers. They'd never go to the lengths or the depths he does here, mostly because they were probably afraid to grow up. Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.

<P>Officially, <a href="/news/articles/1617945/janes-addiction-killers-turn-up-heat-on-lollapaloozas-last-day.jhtml">Lollapalooza ended Sunday night</a> in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1244299">the Killers</MTVNLINK> and <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="702">Jane's Addiction</MTVNLINK>. Unofficially, it ended <i>very</i> early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.</P><P>To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="986">Foo Fighters</MTVNLINK> frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="503135">Queens of the Stone Age</MTVNLINK> mastermind Josh Homme and <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="993">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK> legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.</P><P>According to <a href="http://blogs.suntimes.com/derogatis/2009/08/them_crooked_vultures_at_metro.html" target="_blank">some reports</a>, the Vultures actually turned <i>down</i> Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.</P><P>Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures &#8212; Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar &#8212; ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called <i>Never Deserved the Future,</i> and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).</P><P>The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard &#8212; <a href="http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2009/08/concert-review-them-crooked-vultures-at-metro.html" target="_blank"><i>Chicago Tribune</i></a> critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" &#8212; delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the <i>Chicago Sun-Times'</i> Jim DeRogatis.</P><P>It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures &#8212; there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.</P><P>Early Monday, a <a href="http://twitter.com/crookedvultures" target="_blank">Crooked Vultures Twitter account</a>, which had previously posted links to the band's <a href="http://www.themcrookedvultures.com/" target="_blank">official-looking Web site</a> and the Metro's online ticketing site &#8212; posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a <i>Deserve the Future</i> T-shirt. Cost: $30.</P>

Sources say Mother Monster and the starlet might work together for a clip from ARTPOP, but Lohan's rep is 'not confirming' reports.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> and Lindsay Lohan might <a href="/news/articles/1690648/lady-gaga-lindsay-lohan-machete-kills.jhtml">commit their friendship</a> to celluloid: According to reports, Mother Monster has asked the starlet to appear in her next music video, the lead visual from her upcoming <a href="/news/articles/1691226/lady-gaga-new-album-artpop.jhtml"><i>ARTPOP</i> album</a>.</P><P>While a rep for Lohan told MTV News her camp is "not confirming" the chatter, sources say the two stars have become fast friends and want to work together soon.</P><P>"Lady Gaga and Lindsay caused a stir last month when they had their 'sleepover' at the Chateau [Marmont]," a Hollywood insider told the <a href="http://m.nypost.com/p/pagesix/lindsay_lands_gaga_vid_gig_kxo9Fn2Cgw9KoRBR0UU9GP" target="_blank"><i>New York Post.</i></a> "And now it turns out that Lindsay will be starring in Gaga's new video from her upcoming album."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Twitter Lightning Round!" id="vid:683377.id:1669247" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>A Gaga insider insisted to the newspaper that the singer is not shooting a video at this time and a rep for Gaga had not responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.</P><P>Another source opened up about the rumored collaboration to <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/336415/lady-gaga-and-lindsay-lohan-teaming-for-new-music-video" target="_blank">E! News</a>, saying there's a real, mutual friendship between the two women. The duo originally made headlines this summer after Gaga posted photos of their L.A. rendezvous to her <a href="/news/articles/1691382/lady-gaga-little-monsters-website.jhtml">Little Monsters website</a>.</P><P>"Gaga really likes Lindsay and Lindsay is really happy to be able to be part of it," the insider said. "She has a genuine respect and admiration for Gaga and her music."</P><P>It certainly wouldn't be the first time Gaga has cast a real-life pal in one of her music videos. 'Glee' Star Promises New Britney Spears Hit On Tribute Episode

'I grew up listening to Britney Spears,' Amber Riley reveals to MTV News about the season-four homage.

<P>The first time "Glee" paid tribute to the one and only <link type="content" id="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</link>, fans tuned in to not only hear the Gleeks put their spin on some of Brit's biggest tunes, but also to catch a glimpse of the star on the show.</P><P>Now, with <a href="/news/articles/1685127/britney-spears-glee-episode.jhtml">another Britney-centric episode planned</a>, one of the show's stars, Amber Riley, admits that she'd be down to do whatever show creator Ryan Murphy asks her to do for it.</P><P>"I don't really keep my ear to the ground for those things. If it's something they want me to know, they'll let me know," she told MTV News on Wednesday (August 1) when she stopped by the offices to chat about the show's fourth season, kicking off September 13. "They did all the songs that I really liked in the first one."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee' Star Amber Riley Wants To Perform Britney Spears' 'Circus'" id="vid:822247" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Sure, some of her favorite tunes may have already been performed, but that doesn't mean there isn't one or two she'd like to put the Mercedes stamp on. "There's so much Britney music. I grew up listening to Britney Spears. She definitely has been a part of my high school years coming up. I would love 'Circus.' 'Circus' is a good one."</P><P>Spears isn't likely to appear in this new tribute episode, but that doesn't mean she isn't destined to run into the "Glee" kids, especially given they are all on Fox shows. When asked if Riley has any plans to chill with the "X Factor" judge at any network holiday parties, she laughed, "No! Probably not."</P><P>With Riley was uncertain of her own role in the Spears episode, some of her co-stars have been more forthcoming about what they will be doing or hope to be doing in the episode. Chris Colfer <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/332350/glee-s-chris-colfer-wants-drama-for-kurt-blaine-hopes-to-sing-britney-spears-in-tribute-episode" target="_blank">has said</a> he hopes to do something from her <i>Femme Fatale</i> era, while Chord Overstreet added, "It's probably one of her most recent singles. The singer has just unveiled another ad for her fragrance, the aptly titled <a href="/news/articles/1689786/lady-gaga-nude-perfume-ad.jhtml">Fame</a>, dropping in September.</P><P>While she donned nothing except for tiny men crawling up her body in the last image, this new one features the singer in a clingy PVC bodysuit with a big PVC hat and face mask. The black-and-white photo features two Mother Monsters, facing off in a side-by-side mirror image.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga's Musical Roots" id="vid:657640" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Like the first ad, this one was also shot by "Alejandro" video director and fashion photographer Steven Klein. Gaga added that the look was styled by Brandon Maxwell, who has worked for her pal Nicola Formichetti and styled her for "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving." She <a href="http://littlemonsters.com/image/5018ad5dc46c85665b000acb" target="_blank">tweeted</a> out the image late Tuesday, with the message, "Fame is an illusion. <P>Wondering who will take the stage at the second annual iHeartRadio Music Festival this year? Well, on Monday (July 9), the A-list-filled roster was announced.</P><P>In a press release, Clear Channel confirmed that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a>, Aerosmith, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/Usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a>, Bon Jovi, Lil Wayne, Green Day, Swedish House Mafia, No Doubt, Brad Paisley, Pitbull, deadmau5, Miranda Lambert, Enrique Iglesias, Linkin Park, Jason Aldean, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/pink/artist.jhtml">Pink</a>, Mary J. Blige, Calvin Harris and Shakira will all take the stage during the two-day festival. Gaga sits in the backseat of an SUV as fans call the track "amazing." The 38-second clip ends with the Mother Monster driving away from her fans.</P><P>Could it be the song that will knock Jepsen from her lofty perch? Only time will tell.</P><P>Gaga will <a href="/news/articles/1686922/lady-gaga-new-album-title.jhtml">reveal the name</a>&#8232; of her new album in September. Last week she hinted that the first song off the LP is produced by longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow, who worked with Gaga on <I>Born This Way</I> singles "Born This Way" and "The Edge of Glory."</P>

Usher's Stepson Kile Glover: What Happened?

'There is no one that has been declared brain dead that has survived to being functional,' said neurologist Dr. Bren Masel, who was not treating Glover.

<P>More than a week after <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher's</a> stepson, Kile Glover, was <a href="/news/articles/1689206/ushers-stepson-declared-brain-dead-after-jet-ski-accident.jhtml">pronounced brain dead</a>&#8232; following a traumatic head injury suffered during a <a href="/news/articles/1689261/usher-kyle-glover-jet-ski-jeffrey-s-hubbard.jhtml">jet-ski accident</a>&#8232;, the 11-year-old boy <a href="/news/articles/1690157/usher-stepson-kile-glover-taken-off-life-support.jhtml">died</a>&#8232; of heart failure on Saturday.</P><P>Glover, the son of Usher's ex-wife, Tameka Foster, was reportedly taken off life support Saturday morning and died a short time later.</P><P>Given the seriousness of his injury, which resulted from blunt trauma to the head after Glover was hit by a jet-ski while floating in an inner tube on Atlanta's Lake Lanier, MTV News spoke to a neurologist about the prospects for victims of such major brain injuries.</P><P>"There is no one that has been declared brain dead that has survived to being functional," said neurologist Dr. Brent Masel, national director of the Brain Injury Association of America and medical director of the Transitional Learning Center of Galveston, Texas several days before Glover was pronounced dead. "They will not get better."</P><P>Masel, who was not treating Glover and had no first-hand knowledge of the case, explained that the prognosis in such cases is so grim because of the make-up of the brain. "When someone is declared brain dead, it's not that their brain is not functioning at all," he said. "There are two components to the brain, the cerebrum, which is the thinking part and the brain stem, which narrows and becomes the spinal cord."</P><P>The stem is the automatic part, which controls respiration and heart rate and someone can technically live without a functioning cerebrum, which is not unusual in such injuries. "The thinking part of the brain is no longer functioning and all the patient has functioning is the brain stem," he said. "Very often what happens when you're deciding if someone is brain dead, you take them off the respirator and they're not even breathing and the only thing going is their heart, which will stop functioning if you're not breathing."</P><P>Glover and a second victim, a 15-year-old girl, were struck by a Jet Ski while floating on an inner tube in Atlanta's Lake Lanier. Both children were airlifted to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston pediatric hospital. The girl is reported to have suffered from a cut on the head and a broken arm, while Glover took the brunt of the trauma to his head.</P><P>Asked how it's possible that Glover could have suffered such a terrible wound while the girl in the inner tube with him escaped with less serious injuries, Masel said it is part of the unpredictable nature of trauma medicine. Pointing to a jet-skiing accident he was involved in 10 years ago in which he nearly ran over a friend's son, as well as the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (whose case he helped work on), Masel said "it's a matter of millimeters."</P><P>Just a few millimeters over and Glover may have come out with a very different wound, he said, noting that there are several very vulnerable spots on the brain that can result in such injuries.
"As physicians, especially with a child, it's the hardest thing in the world because very often the child sort of looks okay and there are miracles that could occur," he said.</P><P>"What I always try to do is ask, 'what would I do if this was my sister or brother?' If I were the doctor I would say, 'if this were my child this is what I would do.' Could you breathe for that patient forever? Yes, We know artificial respiration isn't adequate, [though] and it's not the same as breathing normally. You can have someone on a respirator for a long period of time and eventually the brain deteriorates. Even if they said they want[ed] to keep him on the respirator for six months, or a year and wait for a miracle, the brain [wouldn't] be the same."</P><P>The man driving the jet ski has been identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a family friend. At this time the police have determined that no drugs were involved, and no charges have been filed.</P>
