Britney Spears, Demi Lovato Walk Off During 'X Factor' Audition
By Jocelyn Vena
<P>One "X Factor" contestant learned what happens when you attempt to pull a fast one on the judges. Over the weekend, while <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney
Spears</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lovato__demi/artist.jhtml">Demi Lovato</a>, L.A. Reid and seat-filling judge Louis Walsh (who was assisting an ill Simon Cowell) were in Kansas City, Missouri they walked out on one contestant who attempted to audition with his back to the judges.</P><P>According to <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20602844,00.html" target="_blank">People.com</a> sources, not only did the contestant audition with his back to the panel, but he also wasn't all that talented of a singer, adding insult to injury. "It was really awkward," an eyewitness told the site of the kooky audition. "You could tell the judges were done. I don't think they had a choice. They didn't want to waste their time."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Britney Spears Explains Why She Wanted To Be A Part Of 'X Factor'" id="vid:769620" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Another onlooker added that the male contestant didn't leave the judges much of an option given his lack of talent. "He was one of the worst singers and had a bad attitude ... [The judges] all hated it and walked off," the source said. Additionally, he had no idea they had walked out since his back was to them for his entire performance.</P><P>Everyone except Britney eventually made their way back to the judges'
table to hear the last contestant. Spears' absence was met with the audience chanting, "Where's Britney?" However, she was only gone for a short time, as she returned later on for another batch of contestants.</P><P>Spears and Lovato made their debut as <a href="/news/articles/1685844/britney-spears-x-factor-judging.jhtml">"X Factor" judges in late May</a>, weeks after Cowell and Reid appeared at the <a href="/news/articles/1685206/britney-spears-x-factor-concept.jhtml">Fox upfront</a> alongside the singers to announce them as additions to the show. "Just really being able to be there and inspire the other contestants ... they're so young and they're trying to fulfill their dreams," Spears said at the event. "It's just a whole beautiful concept. It's just really cool."</P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a></p>

Ke$ha Previews 'Supernatural' New Track
By James Montgomery
<P>It's not exactly <a href="/news/articles/1663946/kesha-new-album.jhtml">"balls-out irreverent rock and roll"</a> — quite the opposite, in fact — but with one 40-second snippet, Ke$ha is serving notice that her new album is most definitely going to be a departure.</P><P>On Wednesday (June 6), frequent Ke$h collaborator Dr. Luke gave fans <a href="http://soundcloud.com/drluke/snippet-super" target="_blank">a sneak peek</a> at a song from her long-in-the-works new album, an all-too-brief preview that features her cooing about a lover's prowess — "When you take my body to the stars/ I believe it/ Boy, this love is supernatural/ Can you feel it?" over a bed of shimmering synths and knotty bass that gradually builds to a twisting, rapidly contrasting electronic break.</P><P><iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="http://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F48805816&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true&color=ff7700"></iframe></P><P>It's the kind of high-gloss production she largely avoided on her breakthrough <a href="/news/articles/1629566/keha-partying-pop-genius-weve-all-been-waiting.jhtml"><i>Animal</i></a> album, and while we certainly can't figure out how the track fits in with her <i>other</i> collaborations (she's reportedly worked with everyone from <a href="/news/articles/1685827/kesha-flaming-lips-tattoo.jhtml">Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne</a> to Iggy Pop on the still-untitled new album), the new track certainly showcases her maturation. And thanks to Ke$h herself, at least we know what the new track is about: having sex with ghosts.</P><P>Yes, just hours after Dr. Luke leaked the snippet, Ke$ha took to her Twitter account to mock-chastise her producer, <a href="https://twitter.com/keshasuxx/status/210428157554196480" target="_blank">writing</a>: "You leaked my song about me having sexy time with a ghost, @thedoctorluke," she wrote. "Now everyone knows I get it on with ghosts!"</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Ke$ha Says New Album Will Be ' Balls-Out, Irreverent Rock'" id="vid: 652875" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Somehow, that doesn't surprise us. There's still no firm release date for Ke$ha's new album, which she began working on in February. But, from the sound of one snippet, at least, it sounds like things are progressing quickly. And, apparently, ghostly.</P><P><i>What do you think of the sneak peek? Let us know in the comments!</i>

Beyonce Tribute to Michael Jackson: Remembering the King of Pop, Pure Swag
The "Crazy in Love" singer and new mom wrote a touching message on her website about Jackson on Monday, Michael Jackson's death anniversary.
Beyonce, 30, said her first producer had her listen MJ's "Who's Loving You" on repeat. "What he wanted me to learn was his soul," the star recalls.
"You could hear his soul. It's something that's God given."
"For whatever reason he could evoke more emotion than an adult," she went on. "It was these little things he did that were pure swag."
And the mother of Blue Ivy Carter and wife of rapper Jay-Z credits the King of Pop for teaching her that "sometimes you have to forget technique."
"Michael Jackson changed me forever, and helped me to become the artist I am," Beyonce writes, adding simply "Thank you Michael."
Jackson died on June 25, 2009 from an overdose of the anesthetic propofol, given to him by Dr. Conrad Murray. He was only 50 years old.

Spice Girls Reunite, Announce Musical, Nearly Crash Internets
The famed pop quintet reunited in London on Tuesday morning to announce an upcoming West End musical based on their music: Viva Forever!
It's the first Spice Girls reunion since their 2008 tour.
In response to the fivesome's return and announcement, “Spice Girls” and “Viva Forever” were trending internationally on Twitter this morning ... girl power!
A promoted tweet from Katy Perry, who is a relative newcomer to pop stardom when compared to the Spice Girls, was the only thing that could keep pace.
As a testament to the enthusiasm that greeted the lovely ladies in London, the Spicy topics continued to trend online for hours after the announcement.
Were you Tweeting about it? And are you excited for a Spice Girls musical?

'Brave' Wards Off Box-Office Competition
By Ryan J. Downey
Merida in "Brave"
Photo:
There's nothing unlucky about the number 13 for Disney/Pixar. Over the weekend, "Brave" became the 13th consecutive film from the animation unit behind "Toy Story" and "Wall-E" to debut at #1. The animated archery adventure hit a box-office bull's-eye to the tune of $66.7 million, according to estimates. And cartoons dominated the weekend box office as DreamWorks' "Madagascar 3" landed at #2.Unfortunately for Fox, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" was not so lucky. The $69 million-budget historical/ fantasy mash-up opened at #3 with just $16.5 million."Brave" opened stronger than last year's "Cars 2," which bears the distinction of being the only Pixar film with a "rotten" critical average on Rotten Tomatoes. While reviews for "Brave" weren't as overwhelmingly enthusiastic as those for flicks like "Toy Story 3" and "Wall-E," the studio's latest still boasts a 74 percent score on the film-review-aggregator site. The opening numbers for "Brave" were the fifth-highest for Pixar (ninth when adjusted for ticket price inflation). "Toy Story 3" ranks at #1 in both categories, with its astonishing $110 million opening (on slightly fewer screens than "Brave," to boot) two years ago. Audiences gave "Brave" a CinemaScore of "A.""Brave" is the first Disney/Pixar to center on a female protagonist, telling the story of a Scottish princess who bucks tradition to shape her own destiny. It was nearly the first Pixar film to be directed by a woman too. Brenda Chapman, who conceived the story, was replaced mid-production by Mark Andrews.Box-office prognosticators were right on the money late last week when it came to "Brave," but the numbers for "Lincoln" were even lower than most of them projected. IMDb's Keith Simanton told MTV News that the Tim Burton-produced book adaptation would need to match the $23 million collected by "Zombieland" on opening weekend to be considered a success. "I'm putting it at $19 million. But it may be closer to $17 million," he predicted."Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted," which was #1 for two weekends in a row, took in $20.2 million in its third weekend in theaters for a domestic total of $157.6 million. "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" made a total of $180 million after it opened in 2008. The first "Madagascar" film cleared $193.5 million three years before. "Madagascar 3" is the best-reviewed of the series. "This is the rare animated property that has consistently improved on its ho-hum origins," Variety's Justin Chang wrote."Prometheus" grossed another $10 million for a $108.5 million total. Box-office bombs "Rock of Ages" and "That's My Boy" fell even further in their second weekends, grossing just $8 million (against a $75 million budget) and $7.9 million, respectively. "Rock of Ages" has made $28.8 million to date; "That's My Boy," $28.2 million. In limited release, "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" collected $3.8 million in its debut. The Focus Features film starring Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley played in 1,625 locations, versus the 4,164 where "Brave" was available. The Los Angeles Times reported that the film was expected to open with at least $7 million.Woody Allen's "To Rome With Love" made $379,371 on just five screens. That's the second-best per-screen average this year, behind "Moonrise Kingdom," which averaged $130,749 across four theaters last month. Last year, "Midnight in Paris" became Allen's highest-grossing picture ever and was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. "Paris" boasted a 93 percent Tomatometer rating, however, whereas "Rome" sat at 55 percent at press time.Next weekend's new releases include "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane's live-action directorial debut, "Ted," which stars Mark Wahlberg; male stripper tale "Magic Mike," with Channing Tatum; the Chris Pine/ Elizabeth Banks dramedy "People Like Us"; and Tyler Perry's "Madea's Witness Protection Program."Check out everything we've got on "Brave."

Ke$ha Calls Bob Dylan Cover 'An Emotional Purging'
By Jocelyn Vena
<P>It's hard to associate <a href="/music/artist/_kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> with songs about anything other than hot guys, body glitter and partying. But she's defying her usual topics of interest for human rights organization Amnesty International. The singer is one of the many musicians on the org's <i>Chimes of Freedom</i> compilation of Bob Dylan's music, out January 24.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Ke$ha Calls Bob Dylan Cover Choice 'An Accident'" id="vid:720838" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>When MTV News spoke with K-Dollar Sign last week about her <a href="/news/articles/1676172/kesha-sleazy-remix.jhtml">all-star remix of "Sleazy,"</a> she also opened up about switching gears vocally and emotionally for her version of Dylan's classic "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right."</P><P>"I mean, I think it's pretty well known that he's one of, if not my most, favorite artists of all time and ... one of the most amazing lyricists as well — the original storyteller," she explained. "So I love Bob Dylan and this was just, like, a dream. When they asked me to do a cover, I was just, like, salivating and going through all my records. It was so fun. It was the best homework assignment you could possibly have."</P><P>K's version of Dylan's song is a slow-burning, heartbreaking ode to the already heartbreaking classic, where she channels Dylan through lyrics like "Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say/ To try and make me change my mind and stay/ We never did too much talkin' anyway/ So don't think twice, it's all right."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="What Is The Biggest Perk Of Being A Headliner?" id="vid:642810" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>Ke$ha had originally intended to record another Dylan track, but when she heard that someone else had their sights set on it, she settled on "Don't Think Twice," prompting a catharsis she could never have imagined.</P><P>"This song was kind of an accident. I sat down and this is the first take that I ever sang," she recalled. "I just sat down on my bed for the first time after months of being on tour and I just started crying, and it was kind of like an emotional purging, and you can hear it on the record."</P><P>In addition to Ke$ha and her contribution, the album will feature 75 other Dylan classics recorded by nearly 80 artists including Adele, Miley Cyrus, "Glee" star Darren Criss, My Chemical Romance, Evan Rachel Wood and Sugarland. The album pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International.</p>

Coldplay, Led Zeppelin Album Covers Featured On New British Stamps
By James Montgomery
<P>On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.</P><P>The albums featured in the new series are the <a href="/music/artist/rolling_stones/artist.jhtml">Rolling Stones</a>' <i>Let It Bleed,</i> <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a>'s <i>IV,</i> <a href="/music/artist/bowie_david/artist.jhtml">David Bowie</a>'s <i>The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars,</i> <a href="/music/artist/mike_oldfield/artist.jhtml">Mike Oldfield</a>'s <i>Tubular Bells,</i> <a href="/music/artist/clash/artist.jhtml">The Clash</a>'s <i>London Calling,</i> <a href="/music/artist/new_order/artist.jhtml">New Order</a>'s <i>Power, Corruption and Lies,</i> <a href="/music/artist/primal_scream/artist.jhtml">Primal Scream</a>'s <i>Screamadelica,</i> <a href="/music/artist/pink_floyd/artist.jhtml">Pink Floyd</a>'s <i>The Division Bell,</i> <a href="/music/artist/blur/artist.jhtml">Blur</a>'s <i>Parklife</i> and — the most recent album on to make the cut — <a href="/music/artist/coldplay/artist.jhtml">Coldplay</a>'s <i>A Rush of Blood to the Head.</i></P><P>Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.</P><P>Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for <i>IV</i> — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery.</P><P>"Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."</P><P>Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their <i>Rush of Blood</i> stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date."</P><P>"We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."</p>

Captain America
I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:
(Sit down, stop jumping around, it's an awesome picture, I know. And the quality is amazing. It's not grainy or reddish... it's perfect.) (No, it's not.)
(And you can totally see the Captain America logo on the side of the glasses.) (No, you can't.)
Anyway, Captain America is pulling a strong 71% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now so GO SEE IT! IT'S FANTASTIC!

Britney Spears, Demi Lovato Praised By Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger
By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber's Live MTV Special: What You Didn't See!
By Jocelyn Vena
<P><b>NEW YORK</b> — If you weren't a teenage girl during the <a href="/news/articles/1687822/justin-bieber-total-request-live.jhtml">"Total Request Live"</a> era of the late '90s and early 2000s, watching <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> take over MTV's famed Times Square studio Tuesday night for <a href="/news/articles/1687835/justin-bieber-live-recap.jhtml">"Bieber Live"</a> was definitely a lesson in what that era was all about.</P><P>"TRL" loaded girls into a room to get them up-close-and-personal with their teen dreams, and "Bieber Live" did that and then some for 100 lucky Beliebers.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Bieber Live'" id="id:1687833" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Deafening screams filled the room from the moment the audience was loaded into the studio. But when Bieber walked in, well, that was a different story. The screams were heightened to (or perhaps surpassed) levels that haven't been heard since the days of Backstreet and Britney. Justin kicked off the show with a performance of <a href="/news/articles/1685945/justin-bieber-die-in-your-arms-single.jhtml">"Die in Your Arms"</a> from his brand-new release, <a href="/news/articles/1687691/justin-bieber-believe-album-details.jhtml"><i>Believe.</i></a> As fans clapped and sang along to the acoustic performance, the excitement in the room was palpable. And things got swagged out to the next level when Bieber dropped the mic at the end of the stripped-down performance, much to the delight of his devotees in the room.</P><P>It was so loud in the room that the audience couldn't even hear Bieber talking during the show. After the first act wrapped up, the 18-year-old got a pep talk from his manager, Scooter Braun, while his faithful fans looked on. But the commercial break wasn't all business: Bieber also gave high-fives to fans and joked around with them as well.</P><P>When the show came back, Bieber turned on the charm once more, even partaking in a friendly game of "2 Truths and a Lie," during which lucky fans got to stand <i>next</i> to him and try and prove their Bieber knowledge. Yes, they got to stand <i>next</i> to him (and MTV News' very own Sway Calloway, which we're sure they were equally enthused by).</P><P>During the next commercial break, Bieber gave more high-fives to everyone before stepping away from the set for a minute and taking a little break. For the next act, the room was silent as the singer talked all about his music. Looking around at the crowd, you could see girls silently crying and screaming on the inside, just completely overwhelmed by the fact that they were feet away from their idol.</P><P>Sway and Bieber chatted for a second and had a bit of a man-to-man before the last segment of the show, and Bieber even showed off his smooth moves as he danced around for a bit and the cameras started rolling one last time.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Behind The Scenes Bonus: Justin Bieber Bonds With Fans" id="vid:793036.id:1687833" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>As the show wrapped up, Bieber hung around long enough to spend some time with his fans, who traveled from far and wide to attend the show. He took pictures and made conversation, proving that Bieber truly understands what keeps him on top.</P><P><b>Stick with MTV News all week as we roll out more from our exclusive "Bieber Live" interview!</b></p>

'Brave,' 'Hunger Games' And The History Of Lady Archers
By Amy Wilkinson
Jennifer Lawrence in "The Hunger Games"
Photo:
A fiery bow-and-arrow-wielding heroine not named Katniss Everdeen? Color us intrigued! This weekend, Pixar will take aim at the box-office bull's-eye with its first foray into the fairy-tale princess pic. "Brave" follows a young Scottish royal named Merida, who bucks her parents' wishes, insisting on paving her own path — with bow firmly in hand.Of course, the animated flick is only the latest this year to feature an adept bow-woman (or bowman). There was Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) in "The Avengers," William (Sam Claflin) in "Snow White and the Huntsman" and, our obvious favorite, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) in "The Hunger Games." Unsurprisingly, this slew of big-screen portrayals has helped revive interest in the ancient sport, with more and more amateur archers sizing up their targets. But let's be clear about one thing: Bow-besotted babes are nothing new. Lady archers have been around practically since the dawn of time. Follow me down their storied path:Like most grand ideas, the concept of a woman and her bow has roots in Greek mythology. "Amazon" may be a compliment for a leggy lady nowadays, but maybe it shouldn't be, considering the ancient archers were often depicted with their left breast cut off to make wielding their weaponry simpler. The Greek goddess of the hunt, Artemis, was also frequently pictured holding a bow and arrow (sans missing mammary glands).Throughout the Middle Ages, archery served dual purposes: fending off enemies and hunting prey for sustenance. But by the Elizabethan era, it had become a posh pastime, with proper ladies learning the sport — along with dancing and riding — as part of their studies. (P.E. was soooo much cooler back then.) In fact, Queen Elizabeth I herself (daughter of Henry VIII) is said to have been a skilled archer.A few hundred years later, the sport made its Olympics debut in 1900, with women taking up arms at the 1904 games. The event took a hiatus from the Games between 1920 and 1972, reappearing at the Munich Olympics. And while plenty of Hollywood heavyweights have learned the skill for a movie, one took it upon herself to learn for the sport of it. Actress Geena Davis made it all the way to the semifinal rounds of the Olympic trials in 1999, hoping to compete in the 2000 games in Sydney. The games and a gold medal were not in Davis' future, but she already has one gilded goody (namely, an Oscar) to console herself. And speaking of actresses and archery, the last few decades have offered up a bumper crop of bow roles, from Gwyneth Paltrow in "Emma" to Saoirse Ronan in "Hannah." And, of course, Lawrence in "The Hunger Games."All we have so say is, may the odds be ever in your favor, lady archers! Is Katniss your favorite fictional archer? Usher's Looking 4 Myself: The Reviews Are In!
By Kara Warner
<P>Given the incredibly fast-paced, blink-and-you-miss-it, flash-in-the-pan, hit-singles-or-bust state of the music industry these days, career longevity is almost as difficult for an artist to achieve as fame and recognition itself. R&B superstar <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> is clearly an exception, as Tuesday (June 12) marks the release of the seventh studio album in his 18-year career. <a href="/news/articles/1686990/usher-looking-4-myself-evolution.jhtml">Usher has said</a> that <i>Looking 4 Myself</i> represents an "evolution" for him in several ways, and judging from the positive reviews, critics seem to agree. Without further ado, let's take a tour through the <i>Looking 4 Myself</i> reviews.</P><P><b><big>The Story of "Myself"</big></b><br> "To the list of people who've had mind-altering experiences at Coachella, you can add Usher. In April he was a surprise guest at the music festival, and he says his seventh album, <i>Looking 4 Myself,</i> was inspired by the eclectic acts he saw there, including Euro-disco champs Swedish House Mafia (who produced two songs for <i>L4M</i>) and Aussie synth-rockers Empire of the Sun (who guest on the title track). Even Usher's new look off stage — the Buddy Holly glasses, the facial scruff — suggests that he's warming to indie music. Did he go into Coachella as a Top 40 guy and come out a hipster? Well, he's not exactly taking a stand against party-rock anthems here. <i>Looking 4 Myself</i> still sounds like the Usher you know; it's just a little more interesting than his usual onslaught of skull-pounding beats and silk-sheets ballads." — Melissa Maerz, <a href="http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20601576,00.html" target="_blank"><i>Entertainment Weekly</i></a></P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Looking 4 Myself Can't Be 'Categorized'" id="vid:767986.id:1685137" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P><b><big>The EDM Influence</big></b><br>
"In the interviews surrounding the release of Usher's seventh album, <i>Looking 4 Myself,</i> the singer discussed the wide variety of music that influenced the set, ranging from electronic dance music to folk-rockers Mumford & Sons. And while there's a prominent EDM sound on many of the tracks (folk, not so much), the sound has fused seamlessly with R&B, making <i>Looking 4 Myself,</i> at its best, a truly next-level soul album. One that has the warm, organic feel of R&B and deep pop hooks, but also the pulsating low-end and shimmering keyboard flourishes of EDM." — Jem Aswad, <a href="http://www.billboard.com/new-releases/album-review-usher-looking-4-myself-1007278752.story?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter#/new-releases/album-review-usher-looking-4-myself-1007278752.story?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter" target="_blank">Billboard.com</a></P><P><b><big>Sonorous Surprises</big></b><br> "A number of surprises lurk within, though. 'Twisted' is the most disruptive track on the album, and proves that production duo the Neptunes are still able to time-travel back from the future to offer another dose of innovation. The rhythm is ridiculous, the kind that the Virginia team of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo are experts at creating. Jim Jonsin's catchy rhythm on 'Lemme See' finds its groove when Rick Ross parks his Lamborghini on the track's lawn for a cameo. (Pharrell, by contrast, raps of rolling on another kind of vehicle, '20 of us on Vespas and mopeds,' cruising the city and offering a girl a gift of white lipstick.) The biggest outlier on <i>Looking 4 Myself</i> is Usher's collaboration with Australian progressive electronic group Empire of the Sun on the title track. The song, which features Empire lead singer Luke Steele, is a new wave ditty with a beat that wouldn't sound out of place on a Hall & Oates or later-period Steely Dan record." — Randall Roberts, <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2012/06/album-review-ushers-looking-4-myself.html"
target="_blank"><i>Los Angeles Times</i></a></P><P><b><big>The Final Word</big></b><br>
"<i>Looking 4 Myself</i> covers a lot of ground, from the modernized, shouting soul of 'Twisted' to the jaunty new wave of the surprising title track, a catchy collaboration with Luke Steele of the Of Montreal-esque synth-pop band Empire of the Sun. Not all of it works, but none of it is unpleasant, either, something that couldn't be said of the previous releases from the single-and-on-the-prowl phase of Usher's career. Unlike <i>Raymond</i> or <i>Versus,</i> with their dutiful adherence to Top 40 templates, a sense of freedom and exploration carries through <i>Looking 4 Myself</i> that makes it feel unique from any other Usher album. Although few of these songs rank among his best, it's a pleasure to hear a great performer branch out, following whims and taking risks as he tests new ways to work his voice." — Evan Rytlewski, <a href="http://www.avclub.com/articles/usher-looking-4-myself,80961/" target="_blank">The A.V. Club</a></P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Usher Previews A Clip Of His 'Scream' Performance Video" id="vid:767987.id:1685137" width="415" height="255"></div><p></p>
